Mangans sister, the young men uncle, the cleric, and the young lady at the bazaar all effectively mold the kid into a develop individual. Without a doubt the primary individual who unwittingly helps the kid along the way of development is Mangans sister. She is the young men pulverize. At whatever point he sees her, he follows her any place she goes. This is unusual in light of the fact that the kid admits to scarcely ever addressing her, and he doesn't have any acquaintance with her name. He even pulls up the blinds with the goal that he can watch her. These focuses show the young men youthfulness, however such can be normal from a kid his age. He considers Mangans sister and envisions her picture wherever he goes. He reveres her as a blessed messenger. She appears to turn into an image of what he is living for, and she offers importance to his life. He shows that he is genuinely infatuated with her when he begins to chat with her and overlooks what he says, which is on the grounds that he is so up to speed at the time conversing with her to think about what he is attempting to state. The expression She asked me was I going to Araby. I overlooked whether I addressed yes or no. , best represents these thoughts. As the kid gets more established, he won't have any desire to resemble his uncle, and along these lines, he will have developed in that sense. 2012 Early Action Decision Reactions - UGA Undergraduate Admissions

2012 Early Action Decision Reactions - UGA Undergraduate Admissions 2012 Early Action Decision Reactions Since Early Action decisions will be going out in the late afternoon on Friday, November 18, here are a few suggestions on how to react to the four different decisions: Admit: Celebrate with family, buy a lot of UGA gear to wear for the Thanksgiving break, but remember that not everyone has received a decision of admission, and so be a little more low key with friends and classmates. In other words, do not run up to you best friend during English class and scream I got into Georgia while 10-15 of your classmates are mentally throwing daggers into your back. In addition, be patient with the other parts of campus (commitment deposit, housing, the UGA myID system, etc.), as they might need a few days to take in your information. You will also receive materials in the mail as far as the next steps to take. Defer: This is the most challenging one, as these are applicants who are truly strong students, but we want to see more about them (as well as the rest of the applicant pool) before making a final decision. Please remember, this is not a denial at all, but instead a way for us to be able to review you in full, from your co-curricular activities, your essays, and your recommendations. As I usually state, defer is not a four letter word (even though you might feel this way), only a delay in an admission decision. This is your chance to let us know what you are like as an overall applicant. While this is probably not the answer you would like, I would suggest you treat it as a call-back for a second audition. Some roles have already been cast (or admitted), and we now want to look at you in more detail to see how you compare to the rest of the people auditioning (or applying). One of the worst things you can do is give up and not do the essays. The second worst thing is to call us up and berate us for not admitting you. We will be happy to talk to people, but make sure to communicate in a positive tone, understand that we cannot talk about other applicants, and please remember that defer does not mean denial. In past years, about half of the deferred applicants who completed part II were later admitted. Each year, about 1000 deferred students do not complete part II, so we never even have a chance to even review them! If you are serious about UGA, take the time to complete your application, and then be patient as we review all of these files throughout Jan., Feb. and March. When completing part II (the essays), you do NOT need to do an entirely new application, and there is no new/additional application fee. You just need to go to your myStatus page after decisions are out, complete part II (the essays), and hit submit. As well, get a teacher from an academic area to write your teacher recommendation. Remember, UGA is in no way done with the overall freshman admission process. We still have a long way to go, with a great deal of files to read and admission offers to make, so make sure you do your best to show UGA what you are like as an overall student/citizen. Deny: While this is not a fun situation at all, the reality is that if you have been denied Early Action, you are truly not competitive for admission at UGA as compared to the rest of the applicant pool. It is not easy to write that, and it is very difficult to tell this to a student or parent, but when we look at this students application in comparison with the other 10,800 EA applicants (and remember, we expect to get over 8,000 RD applicants as well), they do not match up academically with the others. It is better to tell you now instead of waiting until late March, as this gives you time to make other plans. Unless there seems to be a serious error (you are in the top of your class, take a very challenging course load, and have a strong test score), my suggestion is to not contact us about the decision, but instead move forward with plan B. While we do not mind talking with you at all, the reality is that an Early Action denial means that the admission to UGA is not possible as a freshman. Incomplete: For the small number of students who did not complete your EA file, you are now automatically deferred to the next step, and so you will need to get in the missing materials from EA, and also submit part II of the application and a teacher recommendation. We went three plus weeks beyond the deadline allowing you to get in the missing documents, sending reminder emails, indicating what was missing through the myStatus page, and it was your responsibility to get in the required materials. So I do not suggest contacting us to see if we can take items late, as that time has passed. Focus instead on sending in what is needed to be reviewed in the next round. When completing part II (the essays), you do NOT need to do an entirely new application, and there is no new/additional application fee. You just need to go to your myStatus page after decisions are out, complete part II (the essays), and hit submit. I hope this helps!

It is very important to be aware of the leadership one has in himself/herself to be a better leader and nourish these qualities. These leaders will be able to perform well on ‘personal’, ‘team’ and ‘organisations’ point of view. The rings of the tree and temperaments (keirsey) As far as the communication angle of my talent is considered I am concrete in nature. I have well formed ideas shaped enough to be imparted to others in a very convincing way. I concentrate on reality, and facts rather than simply conveying news on the basis of mind’s eye. But I am sensitive to other peoples change and try sensing a positive or negative energy in a person. In case I find negative energy I tend to sort their situation out by cooperating with them and turning the energy positive. I am also good at converting the the abstract ideas to concrete ones and implementing them if required with greatest dedication. I am cooperative in nature and this makes me friendlier to my colleagues. I am empathetic too and I allot works on the basis of my team members ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ and the ‘quality of the work’ that are offered by them. This helps me to assign the ‘right work’ for the team member and this helps in maximum productivity and satisfaction from the employees (Keirsey, 1998). In the third ring of being reactive or proactive in nature i. e. directive or informative I am more lenient towards proactive one. This is also one of the advantages of being intuitive. I am capable at directing others to achieve the goals that are set. When it comes to the fourth ring I am more expressive than I am attentive. Among the four temperaments that are there, I belong to the to the guardians category that are concrete and cooperative. I relate myself more to the administrator than to the conservators (Keirsey, 1998). Leadership and me It is important to analyse oneself as a leader and to be aware of one’s strength and weakness to make a better leader. Most effective leaders always invest in their strengths and surround themselves with the right people to maximise their team. They also understand their follower’s needs. These are some of the core strengths I have as a leader. I am aware and am appreciative of my leadership skills of communication, mindfulness and empathy. I try on building up my strengths and reducing my weakness through self analysis. Like all the leaders in the world I was also influenced by the other teachers and prominent personalities and am inspired by their leadership styles. I also realise that the leaders made these changes through planning that was implemented on a time plan. I also hope to inspire people around me and make them be appreciative by adapting the most vibrant and preferable style for others. The leaders also influence change by providing direction and chances for continuous improvement. As a leader in my life the number of roles I have played is very limited considering the interpersonal, informational and managerial roles of a leader. I have been a leader, monitor and resource allocator to my team and the roles played on other areas like negotiator, disturbance-handler, entrepreneur, spokesperson, disseminator, liaison and figurehead are very limited and have to be undertaken in the future. I have only worked on an individual and group level of an organisation and haven’t managed to get past the middle-level management in an organisation. On the basis of the leadership trait theories I sense the traits of I have comparatively a higher level of energy and has a talent of persuasion. My leadership style also belongs to the new style of leadership that is accepted in the new era and that is highly decentralised in nature. I value my team members and try to appreciate them for their contributions in the welfare of the team. I also promote the system of feedback and thereby improve myself and helping others to improve. This also means that I have adapted myself to a democratic leadership style. I also realise that there is nothing appreciative in a team as favourable working employs. What motivates me in leadership is need for affiliation. I am willing to please people and am very often concerned about them. I have a very positive outlook on leadership and I am more productive when I work with employees who have theory Y attitude. I also try and make my team positive enough to realise the Pygmalion effect of thinking positive. I am also very strict about being ethical in implementing responsibilities when I, the team members and the organisation is concerned. This is also why I think upbringing of a child highly influences the moral and ethical standards that will be followed by him/her in the future. My new insights to leadership Leadership qualities can be inborn. But they can be conquered through continuous efforts and through planning. Leaders are relied upon by the organisations for achieving the already set goals. It can even be said that the the success or failure of an organisation highly relies on the success of the various leadership styles that are adopted by the leaders. It is not possible for all the leaders to have all the ideal qualities of being a leader. It is the different combinations of these qualities that makes one leader different from one another and allows one to be better than the other. On reading the book ‘the Tao of Leadership’, I accept some of the truths behind leadership of which some are ‘wise leader is like water’. A leader should have it in him to cleanse and refresh all the creatures without any difference and is fearless to search in to the surface of things. It is responsive and is ultimately not bound to anyone. The ultimate goal of a leader is harmony. When harmony is established things tend to work on an organised pace. The group who is working for a leader is very sensitive. When mistreated or not considered adequately, they tend to be unproductive and conflicts occur. For the best performance, a leader should also be low and open. The reason is that a good leader is also a good follower of the right strategies that are adopted by others. A wise leader is responsible for providing opportunities to all the followers even at the risk of getting unnoticed. A good leader should not only be aiming for good reward and acknowledgement (Heider, 1986). Leadership and my experience I have been selected to leadership roles in education institutes and was a team leader in the organisation that I was employed in. I was chosen as a team leader of a new process without being introduced to the team. When started my work as a team leader I realised that the team members were not comfortable with each other and that has really affected the team’s performance as a single unit in spite of the fact that the employees were all hardworking. One of the initial steps I took after I took up the role was to resolve conflict through persuasive communication and the misunderstandings vanished in a very short interval of time. The team gathered together, was work and fun oriented at the same time, and also was appreciated for its achievement in a short time span. Initially three problems were not sorted and then we all glued up well because of the ‘need for affiliation’ I had and the ‘requirement of achievement’ a few others had in the group. My weakness as a leader As a leader I at times tend to be too democratic people fail to realise the difference between the team members and the team leader. I am not achievement oriented which is not always favourable. Different leadership styles are acceptable at different circumstances as I suggested by the situational leadership theory. I am comfortable in one style of leadership and am in heavy requirement for the affiliation. But the democratic style of leadership may not be optimal when there is a situational change and the preferences would be for autocratic and bureaucratic leadership style. I tend to express myself more than than being an active listener. This means that my team mates may find me incommunicable to. Being unapproachable is a very bad quality where in a leader is concerned. I will also have a tough time working with type X employees because of my decentralised style of leadership. There were also many situations while taking the test keirsey that I faced questions that are not mutually exclusive. Even as a leader there are some fatal flaws that tend to occur. On being accepted by other if I will also make one of these fatal flaws that usually occur to leaders like thinking I am the smartest person in the room, being a control freak, the politician, the pleaser or the kind. It’s very difficult for a leader to achieve a balance between all these requirements and it can be achieved only through experience (Lloyd, 2011) Conclusion The quality of leadership can be inborn and can be nurtured well. Organisations should find out talents within the firm and nurture them to be leaders of productive teams so that organisational goals are achieved while being in favour of the employees as well. Leadership is quality that has to be appreciated for being the root cause of the success or failure within an organisation. Employees within an organisation should be given chances to evaluate them self as a leader and person and then choose the most favourable position to enhance productivity. References * Keirsey, D. Interconnected Cloud Computing Environments MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Interconnected Cloud Computing Environments. Answer: Introduction: The cloud computing has been the practice where network of the remote servers are hosted. This has been done over the Internet. It helps in storing, managing and processing information. This is done unlike what is performed on the personal computers or the local servers (Botta et al., 2016). The SoftArc Engineering Ltd is the organization of civil engineering working around Australia and many other countries. It has been considering various proposals of strategy that are required to be analyzed. The following report is prepared on SoftArc, discussing its various aspects of cloud computing. The cloud architectures are demonstrated below: Cloud Architecture Descriptions Reasons for deploying it Workload Distribution Architecture It has been decreasing the over-usage of the IT resources. Besides this the under-usage has been also considered. It has been relying upon the ability of runtime logics and load-balancing algorithms to some extent (Wei et al., 2014). The cloud usage monitor is included here. This is done for carrying the runtime workload tracking. It is also useful in processing of the information. Resource Pooling Architecture It is lying on the ground of using resource pools. Here the similar resources of IT are grouped. Along with this also controlling has been done by this system. It has also been ensuring their synchronization in automatic manner. Many cloud usage monitors are included here during the runtime. This helps in tracking and synchronizing the elements needed by IT resources that are pooled. Here other underlying management systems are also considered (Buyya, Vecchiola Selvi, 2013). Dynamic Scalability Architecture This model is lying on the logics of the predefined systems of scaling. These are triggering the allocation of IT resources dynamically. It is done from the resource pools. The particularized monitors of the cloud usage have been able to track the utilizing of the runtime. This has been regarding the dynamic fluctuation because of to the architecture. Elastic Resource Capacity Architecture It has been related with the provisioning of virtual servers in dynamic manner. It has been utilizing systems allocating and reclaiming of the RAM along with the CPUs (Toosi, Calheiros Buyya, 2014). The cloud usage monitoring has been gathering the data used resource regarding the IT previously and then during and lastly after the scaling is done. The benefits against implementing the architecture are: Cost: Here, there have been no computing or hardware resources waiting for balance sheets. Depreciation and monthly reviewing of the system usage is absent. Scale: Flexibility and elasticity: It is able to transfer from the private to the public networks in-order to test latest applications. Speed: The virtual resources could adopt the requirements of business objectives easily. There has been fast expansion of the speeds of bandwidth according to requirements (Toosi, Calheiros Buyya, 2014). Integration: It helps in delivering easy access to the traditional SQL databases. It further gives analytical opportunities to limitless business requirements. Risk of losing control Risks about cloud security Risks regarding compliance The task overseeing the chances inside the organization is to be done. The overall control on each section of the technology planning has been required. In any case, as cloud-based instruments are used, changes in programming and application happen on the supplier's side. This indicates that the officials might not have anything to claim. Along these lines, standout amongst the most critical dangers hybrid computing has been the apparent loss of management (Chen et al., 2015). The applications change constantly. As those applications have been outside the organization's management, they are captured ill-equipped as an unexpected updating of software take place. A solitary change in application creates coordination issues with different projects, prompting real disturbances in the most basic applications of business. A great deal has been said recently in regards to the cloud and its clear intrinsic dangers. It has been regarding the. The clouds market security measures have been rising every day. This has been a reasonable sign that security has been concerning the organization. There have been some principle security challenges for associations that convey the hybrid cloud methodologies. These incorporate, security administration, risk management and inadequately developed administration level agreements. The vast majority of these issues originate from the confusions. These complications have been arising as the private and open cloud is both utilized as a part of conjunction with each other. This problem accompanies the previously mentioned security challenges. SoftArc need to guarantee that every section of their strategies regarding cloud has been consistent with the regulations of any industries. It has been vital to guarantee the information going amongst private and open cloud situations has been safe, too. On the off chance that the organization has been working with payment-card data, it is liable to the guidelines put forward by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (Tebaa Hajji, 2014). These directions should be overseen appropriately, and in specific conditions, the hybrid IT could convolute successful administration techniques. The general controls and securities of Information security for securing the hybrid clouds: Determining the model of cloud deployment for the data: The critical step has been defining the proper data at first. The deployment options have been on the premises, hosted private clouds, public clouds and combination of all of these. Here the controlled interfaces are put in place. With the help of this the cloud service components are able to intrude into the on-premise systems. This could be done by the technologies like the API management. The business and management aspects of integration are required to b considered. It also includes the functional integrating of systems. Demanding of the cloud services delivers back-up standards for the interfaces of cloud services (Gai et al., 2016). The needs of every link in the components are to be considered. This component has been spanning various cloud-services. They have been assuring connectivity availability for the requirements. The network virtualization usage is considered if available. The capability of connectivity supporting resiliencies and the requirements of disaster recovery are ensured. Developing the service agreements and the governance policies: Here the assessment of the current governance framework and compliance is done. Further the harmonization of processes and identification of gaps are performed. The efficient and thorough change management is ensured. Enough time has been allowed here to habituate and educate the alterations across SoftArc. Gaps regarding management and measurement visibility are identified (Rittinghouse Ransome, 2016). Understanding of the interfaces between the parts running in the private cloud administrations is done. This also includes the open cloud administrations and the on-premises. Proper and steady security measures of all of them are applied. Evaluation of position of every datasets within the hybrid-cloud arrangement is done. Further guarantee of the utilization of steady access to encryption and controls are ensured. When relocating application segments between the environments, the privacy controls are checked. Recommends included in the SoftArc Engineerings BCP : The hybrid cloud condition has been the cloud run for home due to various causes. The least of that are business resilience, disaster recuperation and reinforcement. The basic reason is that it gives the adaptability to span local and remote storages. The hybrid clouds help in enabling to have alternatives. This occurs especially on the off chance that an open cloud is leveraged more and more for backing up. At the end of the day, utilizing the cloud has begun with for something beyond an objective where information is dumped in the required event. That sets the phase for utilizing the cloud to really reestablish or restart, continue, revamp, reconstitute and remake the on-premises condition for recovering the disasters (Hwang, Dongarra Fox, 2013). An environment of hybrid cloud is additionally the home run because of the adjustment of current resources. The current infrastructure worked with can be secured. Furthermore the clouds abilities could be leveraged to improve the atmosphere. This occurs in the perfect scenario where creation of a dynamic, flexible condition is intended. This has been required as the Windows 8 incorporates the Server Manager, the Microsoft Management Console snap-ins, Windows PowerShell cmdlets and suppliers. It also includes the command-line tools to control the features and responsibilities running on Windows Server 2012. In restricted cases, the instruments can be utilized to oversee parts and components that has been running over Windows Server 2008 R2 or the Windows Server 2008. Some of the requirements perform to control the same at Windows Server 2003. The OnCommand cloud manager could be utilized to deliver the core point of management for every endpoint of the data fabric. This is done one the cloud. It helps in replication of information around the multi-cloud and hybrid storage. It further manages the expense of the cloud storages (Leymann et al., 2014). That movement to the cloud has numerous ramifications. Most of them are imperative changes on the standards of the SLA. Traditionally, undertaking IT groups have finished control over their assets and can characterize their SLAs as per the abilities of the domains that are closed and on-premises. The presentation of the open cloud, be that as it may, separates conventional boundaries of data center (Jula, Sundararajan Othman, 2014). Furthermore, with the hybrid cloud, containing both the on-premises and different off-premises assets and stages, SLAs needs the covering up of ability of numerous IT atmospheres. Description of the steps included in plan asked: The SharePoint over the AWS is to be run. This is to be done for scaling and deployment of the collaboration platform very fast. The advantages that the cloud of AWS has been offering must be taken as benefited. It includes the scalability, data integrity and pricing to run the current SharePoint workloads. The AWS has been delivering opportunities to use the current licenses of Microsoft. Checking of the appropriate table entries of route for the KMS access and metadata is done. The security group regulations of the AWS should be compared with the rules of Windows firewall. The version checking of the PV driver is to be done. Checking of whether the registry key of the Real-Times-Universal key has been set is done (Kalloniatis et al., 2014). While utilizing numerous different NICSs, the default settings of gateway is to be implemented Within the mini dump file the bug checking of the codes is to be done. Conclusion: For quite a while, the cloud computing is the objective of the decision makers of SoftArc. Yet the greatly security-awareness have been reluctant to transfer their information and workloads in cloud. Presently, besides the basic innovation behind cloud administrations, another model for cloud computing is picking up a solid footing in business. This is the hybrid cloud. The hybrid cloud selection has been successful venture for SoftArc that have a more tightly concentration over privacy and specific physical demands of presence. In spite of the fact that there is extraordinarily limited hazard in a hybrid cloud framework, permitting access from an open cloud has the remote capability of being uncertain. It has been further being the course through which information can be collected. This, notwithstanding, is valid for any open system communication. Eventually, hybrid cloud enables associations to use the abilities of open cloud stage suppliers without offloading whole of their inform ation to any outsider server farm. This gives a lot of adaptability in figuring assignments, keeping the imperative parts inside the SoftArcs firewall. References: Botta, A., De Donato, W., Persico, V., Pescap, A. (2016). Supply And Demand Essays - Economics, Economy, Consumer Theory

Supply And Demand Economics, supply and demand In the article we find that teenagers have the oppertunity to be demanding about their salary in the baby sitting field, because the amount of babysitters today are scarce. The babysitting population, teenagers, find themselves busy with school, part time jobs, and extracirricular activity. Teenagers with drivers licenses are even more scarce than those with out, all in all, It's hard to find a babysitter. Times have changed, just twenty years ago there were 33 million children who needed to be watched, and 39 million babysitters(age 10 - 19), recent polls suggest that children that need to be watched raised 18 percent to 39 million while baby sitters dropped 5 percent to 37 million. The rise in children coupled with American families spending more time out then years ago, has allowed the babysitters to set their price with out haggeling. Baby sitters are making well over the federal minimum wage of $5.15 an hour because they are in demand, and scarce; the babysitters who train in CPR, serve dinner, and drive are the hardest to come by and can demand the highest wages. In this article we see many examples of supply and damand and the powers of supply and demand. Babysitters are in demand, there is an increase in the amount of children who need to be watched yet there are relativly few who choose to babysit from the allready decreased amount of the babysitter work force. This gives the babysitter the advantage of a noncompetitive work force, allowing the baby sitter to set the price with out bargaining. If we were to compare two different production possibility frontiers, we would see a left shift of the curve while demand for baby sitters rises, from 1980 to 1996. In economics we concider this an inflation, the amount of resources(babysitters) decreased while the demand for them rose. This is what we would concider the begining of an econic problem because the resources are scarce. This resulted in an increase of price for that service. We also see that the most experienced, oldest, responcible, and best trained babysitters set the highest prices by up to 60% from a "novice" sallery of $4 to a "expert" sallery of $10 and consumers are willing to pay. A consumer is willing to pay that extra $6 an hour for the piece of mind they get when they go out and know that their children are being attending to in the best possible way, much like a consumer is willing to by name brand products for a higher price because they just "feel" like its better. In the next two or three years the work force of the babysitters will grow, and so will the number of people under the age of 10, this will show a steady PPC with no signs of relief for the consumer. This article shows the power of supply and demand. 20 years ago when children under the age of 10 and baby sitters age 10-19 were both fewer, we saw more competition between the baby sitters resulting in price decreases. Today with fewer baby sitters, all with busy scheduals, and more young children we see the damand increase resulting in an increase of price.

Take The Initiative To Make Things Better Example

Take The Initiative To Make Things Better Example Take The Initiative To Make Things Better – Term Paper Example Running head: Take an initiative to make things better Take an initiative to make things better Take the initiative to make things betterSouthwest Airlines has tried to not just build an empire but build a family in the process of building an empire. The core values i.e. Warrior spirit, servant’s heart and fun-loving attitude reflect this objective as well. The warrior’s spirit talks about the fighting spirit – this is the kind of person who never gives up or gives in and keeps on striving for perfection. One who has a fighting spirit tackles all kinds of adversity but never backs down. Then we come to the servant’s heart which has its base in making the customer happy. Those who act with modesty and look towards the wellbeing of others before their own fit into this category. The main idea is to perform in a way which is most satisfactory for the customer. The third and most important point is having a fun-loving attitude, one’s job shouldn’ t all be about performance and rules but one must have fun doing that job as well (Jackson et al., 2008:558).As an employee just by following these laws I can very easily not just make my job better but also produce a positive impact on the company itself. If you look at the core values you will see that following them will result in great things. For example if I have a warrior’s spirit I will never back down from a problem; the company will consists of individuals who are problem solvers and not one’s who accept defeat and back down. This is a great way to not just push the firm forward but also to squash the competition. By having a servant’s heart I am basically making sure that I am putting the customers first. The best advertising is one that comes through the word of mouth, if the customers leave happy they will not just keep coming back but will bring others back with them. Lastly, the best way to enhance your job performance is to love your job. People who are satisfied with their job will produce better work and hence the firm they work in will produce better services. At Southwest, because a fun-loving attitude is one core value which by ensuring the benefit and happiness of the employee ensures the benefit and success of the company as a whole. Cases Summary Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Cases Summary - Case Study Example The company is facing the bankruptcy threat as a result of the poor management of the company’s funds as well as running of the other indirect monetary activities. The best strategic analysis tool that I recommend this case is PEST Analysis. This tool entails looking at the factors that may influence the company’s performance, and they include political, economic, social and technological factors (Karadag, 2015). For the case of political factors, the company has to look at the tax policies, labor law, tariffs and political stability among others. For the case of economic factors, the company has to consider the economic growth, interest rates, exchange rates and the inflation rate since they impact on how business operate and reach on to their decisions. Social factors entail the cultural dimensions, consisting of population growth rate, career attitudes and emphasis on safety. Finally, technological factors involve environmental aspects such as automation, technology incentives and dynamism in technology. The best solution is for the company to study the prevailing taxation policies in the country so that it can identify whether it’s spending a lot in paying the taxes (Karadag, 2015). Another solution is for the company to determine the trade restrictions that are in place and find out if there are some that tend to favor its operations. I recommend that the company, try as much as possible to fix itself in the regional market, if there exist some trade restrictions favoring its activities. Finally, the company should study the prevailing market and come up with implementation, control and evaluation plan to meet the demand of the identified market. The second case is where Pixar, the studio company owned by Walt Disney Company, had failed to obtain a single nomination from the previously given out awards. The company has undergone a lot of setbacks from this case since Pixar had won five trophies from the previous year. For this case too, I

Impact of Poverty on Economic and Social Issues

Impact of Poverty on Economic and Social Issues Inequality is a matter for concern for every society. Using this statement discuss the uneven spatial access of resources to alleviate poverty Introduction Inequality is a topic that has been increasingly dismissed by many in power for a substantial period of time. Jones (2012) talks of how it has been thought of as an ‘airy- fairy irrelevance’: all that matters is that the living standards of all were improving; this has not been the case though, especially in Britain. This essay will focus on Britain arguing that unless inequality is urgently addressed, it will lead to a large range of economic and social issues. From this the uneven spatial access of resources shall be looked at with a specific focus on opportunity and trust, two issues which are in vital need of attention if poverty is to be alleviated. Politicians need to take a central role in attempting to eradicate inequality; Jackson and Segal (2004) argue that many people, including some on the Left express doubts about whether economic inequality matters to public policy. Wilkinson and Pickett (2009) in their book, The Spirit Level: Why Equal Societies Almost Alw ays Do Better, highlight that less equal societies tend to do worse when it comes to health, education and general well-being. This has been echoed by many others (Brandolini, 2007; Jackson and Segal, 2004; Jones, 2012; Smeeding, 2004, 2005, 2006) yet the government has done very little resulting in inequality in Britain being the fourth highest in the developing world (Wilkinson and Pickett, 2009). Opponents of inequality will argue that if most of us are better off than we used to be, does it matter if some are much, much better off than most? This is a question that shall be addressed as it is central to promoting the argument that inequality is a matter of concern for us all. Defining Poverty Before continuing it is important to define what poverty is. The Oxford Handbook of Economic Inequality (2009) definition is: ‘Living in poverty shall be taken to mean persons, families and groups of persons whose resources (material, cultural and social) are so limited as to exclude them from the minimum acceptable way of life in the Member State in which they live.’ The second definition is from Townsend (1997): ‘The definition of poverty most commonly applied in economically advanced societies is the exclusion from the life of the society due to lack of resources’ Two definitions from different time periods have been used as it is important to get a perspective from different years to see if the definition has changed. As you can see both definition are similar with the exception that the Oxford Handbook (2009) definition is far broader that Townsends’ (1997) definition which focuses on economically developed countries. These two definitions shall be used as the platform when discussing poverty further into this essay and so as such inclusion and exclusion as a form of poverty are the main focus of this essay. Why we should Care about Inequality Since the Coalition came into power in 2010, they have promoted their key phrase of ‘We’re all in it together.’ Jones (2012) sees this as a ludicrous statement because while the average Briton faces the most protracted squeeze in living standards since the 1920s, the Sunday Times Rich List reveals an ever-booming elite. In the developed world there is an obsession with gazing upon those richer than us, peering into their ludicrously privileged lives to see how they function. This can be seen with the rising popularity of shows such as Channel 4’s Made in Chelsea, the show capturing the lives of London’s elite living in Chelsea. Wollaston (2013) describes the show and its main characters very well: ‘these are ghastly, ghastly people – vacuous, petty, dull, and offensive. But there is kind of open-mouthed fascination in watching Made in Chelsea. Its about incredulity more than anything else, tinged with just a hint of jealousy and lechery. Well, they are rather splendid to look at.’ Made in Chelsea is a fitting example to use when looking at how people think about inequality. The vast majority of viewers for the show will look enviously at the characters but would take little if any time at all to consider how and why they are so wealthy considering they seem to do so little. They just want to live their lavish lifestyles; Krugman (2007) notes how this pattern of the wealthy spending more leads to others attempting to do the same. This has led to household debt and inequality rising in both the USA and UK, especially in the run up to the financial crisis in 2008. Krugman (2007) highlights that there is a link between inequality and the financial crises that occurred in 1929 and 2008- both coincided with historic levels of inequality. It should not take financial meltdown to get people talking and thinking about inequality. Shows like Made in Chelsea act as tools to make the general population forget about ineq uality when in fact they should be highlighting it; when this begins to happen inequality will be taken far more seriously by both those in power and the general population. In the introduction the question was posed that if most of us are better off than we used to be, does it matter if some are much, much better off than most? Mandelson (1998) said that the New Labour government was, â€Å"Intensely relaxed about people getting filthy rich.† With politicians having so much power it is imperative that inequality is a matter of concern for them as they can attempt to implement changes needed. This has not and still is not the case though, Jackson and Segal (2004) argue that governments could fix inequality but chose not to and put the recent growth in inequality down to policy decisions taken by the government in the 1980’s and 90’s. During this period Labour ideology and policy was revised, inequality became a taboo subject, something that members of the Labour party seemed to be almost embarrassed about as they potentially thought it may revert back to Old Labour ideals. Jackson and Segal (2004) talk of how the anti-egalitarian thr ust of Thatcherism and the enthusiasm of members to secure the support of affluent floating voters meant that the Labour leadership was transformed. Hattersley (1997) notes the party leadership believed the pursuit of greater equality was an objective that put an arbitrary cap on individuals’ aspirations. Equality does not cap individuals’ aspirations; it just gives everyone a fair platform on which to start. This point was outlined by Kinnock (1987) where he attacked the ‘savage unfairness of the Conservative policy,’ and talked of how if people had a platform on which to stand and build their business or reputation they would flourish. From this point we can move on to talk about opportunity, a resource that must be utilised to move forward as a country and alleviate poverty. The Uneven Access of Opportunity â€Å"For me, the goal of social democracy is to create the sort of society in which the daughter of a Hartlepool shop assistant has as much chance of becoming a High Court judge as the daughter of a Harley Street doctor.† Peter Mandelson, 1998. The statement above from Peter Mandelson is a point which the UK should strive to work towards. Jackson and Segal (2004) note that the richer you are the greater ability you have to do as you want without interference from others. Using the example from above, the daughter of a Harley Street doctor would most likely get a good education and progress onto university if she wanted. The daughter of a Hartlepool shop assistant could have the exact same wants but economically it may not be possible to do as she wants. Table showing correlation between father’s quartile and son’s quartile Source: Dearden, Machin and Reed, 1997, p62 The table above strengthens the argument that there is a connection between class origins and destinations and truly highlights how levels of opportunity are very low for a child born into the lowest level. Britain has to improve the figures shown above to stop the prospect of there being a generation of children born into poverty with no hope, few aspirations and no platform on which to start. Rawls (1999) notes that while a meritocratic might argue that an individual deserves to be able to eat in fine restaurants or own a new car as a result of her superior productive contribution, it is harder to claim that an individual deserves to be healthier or to be better educated simply as a result of his/her (or his/her parents’) talents. Being born into a poorer family should not impact your opportunities, but unfortunately this seems to be the case in many places. This essay has argued that equality in opportunity needs to be achieved in the attempt to alleviate poverty. Brooks (2008) has argued though that what people really need is neither material equality nor equality of opportunity but simply good access to economic opportunity. This point of view is one that many would see as a better solution, if everyone had better access to money then surely the playing field would be a more level one? Wilkinson and Pickett (2009) use the example of London, one of the most unequal cities on Earth, where the top 10% receive 273 times more than the bottom 10% (IFS, 2010). This essay would argue that although economic opportunity is an important factor, on its own it would solve nothing. Increasing economic opportunity would do very little in such an unequal place; improving equality of opportunity would allow people to truly strive towards their goals without being stopped due to lack of money ,being born in the wrong part of the country or being born i nto a lower class family. Wilkinson and Pickett (2009) highlight that in London there are those who feel excluded and can see what they are denied on an almost daily basis. This was the main reasons for the summer riots in 2011. Jackson and Segal (2004) note that beyond a certain point money does not improve the quality of life in a society but greater equality and opportunity does. Reducing this gap in Britain would facilitate a happier, healthier and more successful population. The most unequal countries, the US, the UK, Portugal and Singapore have much worse social problems than the most equal countries of Japan, Sweden and Norway (Wilkinson and Pickett, 2009). Effects of Low Levels of Trust Another significant factor in trying to alleviate poverty is increasing the levels of trust in Britain. Uslaner (2002) argues that to maintain trust between members of a community, ‘what matters is not how rich a country is, but how equitable the dispersion of income is.’ In unequal communities members trust one another less; Hsieh and Pugh (1993) highlight that these more unequal societies suffer from higher crime rates, health and education issues and, in particular higher homicide rates. Putnam (2000) argues that growing inequality has coincided with a decline in social cohesion and goes on to say how more detailed empirical studies have shown that tangible social fragmentation is indeed associated with rising inequality. Jackson and Segal (2004) note that in more unequal societies people trust each other less. Inequality undermines the sense of community- as a result of people’s lives being so different the feeling of common citizenship becomes more and more d ifficult. Lansley (2011) talks of how, ‘greater inequality increases status competition and provides fertile soil for the growth of mistrust and isolation.’ These factors aren’t a good platform for a country to grow from and attempt to create a society that tries to include people who want to work. Kawachi (1997) notes how economic efficiency can be enhanced if there is greater interpersonal trust among communities, this would mean a greater number of people being prepared to work with one another creating the potential for a variety of new products and services. Continuing on the subject of trust levels decreasing in Britain, residential segregation depending on social class has increased as people move away from less desirable areas partly as a consequence of spiralling inequality. Hutton (1996) describes residential segregation as, ‘the drawbridge community for the rich and the decaying housing estates locked in viscous circles of depopulation and poverty for the poor.’ With the rich increasingly excluding themselves from others it has serious consequences for attempts to guarantee adequate funding for public services which could then fall into decline leading to those at the bottom losing out. Jackson and Segal (2004) note that shared public services have an important role in social democratic thought: certain goods essential to the health and well-being of citizens are decommodified in order to equalise access of such goods relative to market distribution. These services should be in a space, in which all members of the comm unity are welcome equally, Hutton (1999) highlights that this mixing together of individuals from different backgrounds who would never usually meet is the end goal and helps to keep the services running. However, in a country where levels of inequality are high and trust is low, the wealthy can buy their way out of these services. If the rich are not included in the public system they are likely to be far less supportive of efforts to improve them, and very unhappy at the prospect of having to pay higher taxes needed to fund them. Titmuss (1968) argued that, ‘services for poor people have always tended to be poor quality services.’ If trust was higher the different social classes would mix and we would not have services labelled as rich or poor; services for those at the bottom are so poor it is incredibly difficult for them to get themselves out of poverty and engage with the economy. Britain has the lowest life expectancy out of the 23 most developed countries (Wilki nson and Pickett, 2009) despite spending vast sums of money on healthcare. This is because large amounts of money are going to the wealthy while those at the bottom struggle to survive on what little they are given. Following on from the previous section, we can look at how inequality and trust have led to services for the least well of declining. Schwabish, Smeeding and Osberg (2003) found that countries such as Britain with large levels of economic inequality had lower levels of spending on public programmes that provide goods or income and services to households. This occurs because the rich become more distant from the other classes leading to them finding it easy to opt out of public programmes and convert to private services. This may not seem like a problem at first, but because the rich exert a greater influence over decision and policy making than the other groups political support for these goods and services is eroded. People not only at the bottom, but also in the middle therefore have services that could be far better. Conclusion â€Å"If you are born poor in a more equal society like Finland, Norway or Denmark then you have a better chance of moving into a good job than if you are born in the United States. If you want the American dream – go to Finland.† Ed Miliband, speech to the Sutton Trust 21 May 2012 This essay has shown how two untraditional resources of opportunity and trust can have a huge impact on how we can deal with poverty in Britain. The current and future governments have a huge task ahead of them if they are to reduce poverty and to promote social mobility. Jackson and Segal (2004) highlight the need for policy changes and public attitude changes. For policy changes there is no set rule on how to tackle inequality and poverty, which we have seen throughout this essay are linked very closely. It is clear that policy- makers need to think creatively and broaden their ambitions to forge a strategy for Britain. For public attitude changes Jackson and Segal Jones (2012) note that, ‘a large majority agree with the proposition that the gap between the rich and the poor is too large.’ A large majority agree that the gap between rich and poor is too large, with over 80% agreeing with this statement from the early 1990’s onwards (Hills, 2001). Most will recog nise that the low paid make a huge contribution to society and the economy and thus deserve more than they are getting at present. Once policy and attitudes have changed, as it has been shown in this essay the economy will prosper, society will function more efficiently and this should reduce poverty levels in Britain. Musical is an art of arranging sounds Essay

Musical is an art of arranging sounds in a particular pattern to create a pleasant harmony to the ears of the listeners. Just like the industrial revolution took time to reach its present level, the two major forms of musical in America were realized after a long time of progressive development as (Riddle 2003) explains. American musical was firstly borrowed from the European States; the American musical pioneers built on it to develop theirs then later they completely detached from it came up with their own different style of presentation according to (Lubbock 1962). Musical comedy was the first of the only two advanced musical styles to be established in America. Then there followed the other which is the musical play and the two have been cherished widely in the twentieth and the twenty first centuries. There are several legend musicians who played a key role in making American musical what it is today and have been covered by history. The changes that were met in the twentieth century in musical varied from the cultural, content to the form of delivering the musical. HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT Music in America is an art that has a very long history in its development in form and content to the level it is now. The historians have established that it has taken hundreds of years to develop from its primitive form to the now sophisticated forms. (Lubbock1962) traces music in America way back in the year 1735. He argues that this introduced music did not originate from America itself but from England. From those years on up to 1960,s the initial way of treating musicals underwent great transformation and many people came into terms with music unlike in the past. As the year 1960 was dawning, Americans began to get enlightened about Musicals where they were in a position to define it and find out its relationship with art according to (Gann 2000). Through continued development of interest in learning what music was, the people also became able to relate it with culture. It is also worthy noting that the various phases through which the American music underwent included the transformation of the places of performance. The first pieces of music were only played in the urban centres but it slowly filtered into the rural as time went by. According to (Gann 2000), the music was taken from the urban to the rural setting in the year 1961 and from there onward it expanded and widely spread more into the interior like a bush fire. In 1980,s several individuals ventured into bettering the quality of the musical performed in the theatres which took the dimension created by the Americans more than that of Europeans. CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT The culture of the people influences greatly the type of music they compose, the type of dance they use to accompany their songs and more so the kind of perception they have on the present generation music. American musical has had a lot of influence on the way the Americans perceive their abilities and identify their characters according to (Knapp 2005). In the same manner, the music the Americans borrowed from the Europeans took after the cultural practices of the natives of the country. Through the ages the American musicals saw a great transition in the way the Americans treated music in relation to their culture. It came a time when the stake holders in musicals began to present their cultures through the art of music especially holding cultural ceremonies where people got the opportunities to express their personalities as (Knapp 2005) confirms. The American musicians also were able to portray their culture through their manner of dressing during music play performances in the theatres. The twentieth century also was the year of making music as a source of earning personal living in addition to expressing the people’s beliefs and practices. (Crawford 2000) confirms that the art of music took the dimension of commercial activity during its development during the twentieth century and a rapid growth as a business the common exercise of the day. By watching a clip of the American produced musical, one was in a position to analyse the type of culture the performers upheld from the way the dressed, their make-ups, the food they eat and the dancing styles which were adopted during music development time. FORM DEVELOPMENT The form in which music first entered America is not the same style of music we play in America today. A great transition has occurred in the music industry in terms of the several classes of music which have hit in the country. Lubbock (1962) asserts that the first type of music to be played in America was Flora and this had its source from England. In this twenty first century, this kind of music can only be referred to as a legend and you may find that the current generation is not aware of the former existence of such kind of music. In the twentieth century, the American natives set out to develop their own style of music which indeed they did in two phases. The first phase was characterized by a lot of emulation of the pre-existing opera style of England which was later advanced. This first move by the upcoming American musicians constituted what was called the comedy music. The second phase of American musical development was the new form of music which was not derived from the European form. According to (Lubbock 1962) it was the Showboat which established the campaign towards developing American-produced music which came to be referred to as music play. Here the musicians could perform their own composed music in public. The music industry in the new form was since then continued by the other successors including Oklahoma and the others. Their establishments have since then not been out dated because music play and the prior styles are the only two ruling the American music industry.

Global Warming and Photosynthesis Essay

Introduction: Photosynthesis can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. It represents a sink for carbon dioxide in the environment. Reducing forests and other vegetation can produce a net increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide. Therefore, more photosynthesis might act to reduce global warming. On the other hand, this is a more complicated title than it appears at first. Photosynthesis: The process in green plants and certain other organisms by which carbohydrates are synthesized from carbon dioxide and water using light as an energy source. Most forms of photosynthesis release oxygen as a byproduct. the reaction of this process: Chlorophillian pigment 6H2O + 12CO2 + S.E ———————–> C6H12O6+ 6O2 + 6H2O Easily, we can explain the reaction like 6 molecules of water plus, 12 molecules of Carbon Dioxide plus Sun energy, cross with chlorophillian pigment, in the product we have glucose, plus oxygen, plus water. We can put so briefly the process saying that the organisms use the energy from sunlight to produce sugar, which cellular respiration converts into ATP, The conversion of no usuable sunlight energy into usable chemical energy, is associated with the actions of the green pigment chlorophyll. Most of the time, the photosynthetic process uses water and release the oxygen that we absolutely must have to stay alive Importance of the photosynthesis: Animals and plants both synthesize fats and proteins from carbohydrates; thus  glucose is a basic energy source for all living organisms. The oxygen released (with water vapor, in transpiration) as a photosynthetic byproduct, principally of phytoplankton, provides most of the atmospheric oxygen vital to respiration in plants and animals, and animals in turn produce carbon dioxide necessary to plants. Photosynthesis can therefore be considered the ultimate source of life for nearly all plants and animals by providing the source of energy that drives all their metabolic processes Global warming concept: is when the earth heats up (the temperature rises). It happens when carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide, and methane trap heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere, which increases the temperature. Global warming process: Some gases in the air are called â€Å"greenhouse gases†. These are gases, like water vapor and carbon dioxide, that are transparent to visible light (from the Sun), but absorb infrared light (from the Earth). When visible light from the Sun hits the earth, it zips through the atmosphere, hits the earth, and warms the earth. The earth emits some of this energy back out into space, keeping the planet cool. But the energy we emit is in the infrared, and some of that is absorbed by greenhouse gases in the air instead of going back out into space. When that happens, the air gets warmer — and the planet as a whole gets warmer too. We humans used to burn wood for fuel. When we burned wood, the carbon dioxide we were releasing was the same carbon dioxide that the tree extracted from the air when it was growing; so the net effect was zero: as long was we planted a new tree to take the place of the old one, no â€Å"extra† carbon dioxide got into the air. How does photosynthesis affect global warming? Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s surface and is caused by greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere. The more greenhouse gases there are, the warmer the Earth gets. The warmer the  Earth gets, the bigger the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s surface. So, more global warming means more greenhouse gases which means more carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere. Plants need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. Therefore more global warming equals to more carbon dioxide which means more more photosynthesis to make food(for the plants). Thus, global warming may be good for plants, but if you consider all the negative effects it has on the Earth, the negative effects outweigh the positive ones, definitely. When I was doing my research I saw that now the scientist wants to contrarest the global warming with artificial photosynthesis, that this is a new study that they opened to make possible the artificial plants for future time, when the photosynthesis that we have here it will not eough.Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of Process of photosynthesis: http://biology.clc.uc.edu/courses/bio104/photosyn.htm Importance of Photosynthesis — Infoplease.com http://www.infoplease.com/encyclopedia/science/photosynthesis-importance-photosynthesis.html#ixzz2ElihlMFm Photosynthesis concept: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/photosynthesis http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_does_photosynthesis_affect_global_warming
